This is an inferior model to the one I had for 25 years. Compaction is no where near the old one. There are no bags that fit this. The only way to activate this is by foot control, which will not last very long. Foot pedal is plastic. Not a good design

Compactor works perfectly. Every home should come equipped with one! I am however concerned about the durability of the foot pedal assembly. Installed less than 30 days ago and it is already difficult to open at times. I am seeing the potential of replacement down the road.

It works great not too noisy when compacting trash. Only thing I miss is no handle but I just need to get used to it.

This is the second time that I have purchased this compactor. The reason that I purchased it again is because the foot pedal broke after only 3 years. After the repairman looked at it, he told me that the foot pedal could not be repaired and that I would have to replace the whole drawer that it would cost almost as much as it would be to purchase a new compactor. We had a trash compactor in another house that lasted over 15 years, but it had a handle to open and close the drawer so the only time you used the foot pedal was to compact the trash.
The manufacturer needs to improve their design so that it won't break as easily or that it can be repaired.

my first compactor lasted over 20 yrs the newer ones are not half as good broke first six months i had it
now six months after warranty expired unit is dead i wish i had my old one back

It's a little early to review my new trash compactor however, it is a direct replacement for my old GE Compactor. If no compromises were made during the construction of this new unit and it lasts near the 26 years my old unit did than I'll be completely satisfied.

I wish I could give ZERO stars for this appliance. I just received a check for my 2nd, yes 2nd, GE compactor. In the 15 months I have owned this machine, it has only worked for 3. Thank goodness I purchased the extended warranty. I love the looks of this appliance, as it has no handle and its sleek design works well in my kitchen. However, the internal components are JUNK! GE...go back to metal gears, etc and this problem will stop. Comes down to GE wanting to save a few bucks, but spending more due to having techs come out every few weeks to replace all of the parts, only to break again.

Just got new compactor after buying the same model in 12-2022. broke down 4 times with seller repairing it. After these repairs were done, same part failure, GE decided to replace it. Hope this one does better

After much research we decided on GE 15™ compactor. It is very loud, vibrates the entire counter and miserable to use. We are currently waiting for second repair, same issue. Does not shut off. Previous service tech ordered part which left us without the unit for two weeks and same issue now. There aren™™t any features worthy of the $1149 we paid for item. 2nd repair request in less than 6 months

We have had this compactor for 10 months and of that 10 months, it has been operational for about 7. Today marks the 5th time a repairman has been out to fix this compactor. I have had a compactor for years (since 2000) and this new compactor has been nothing but problematic. Thank goodness I purchased an extended 5 year warranty through my dealer...I'm thinking I will need it.

Had it for 2 weeks, then it stopped compacting the trash. Also, my old compactor opens all the way out when pedaled down. This one doesn't open out, one has to use hand to pull it out after pedaled down.

I just purchased and easily installed the new UCG1500 model. Previous GE compactor crapped out after 17 years...a good run in my book. These are solid, well made units. I was surprised to see that the old unit had a metal chain drive not a rubber belt.

I love the features. It is a beautiful unit. It doesn't compact as tight as the old one. But the unit is taller so it still holds just as much. Easy to install.

The plunger was stuck above the screws and had no way to be pulled back down. Was told there were no SS units in America and didn't know when any more would be in. I asked if there were any other colors available in the same model. So, I ordered the same model in black and swapped out the SS face. Great, it works...for about 2 weeks and starts doing the same thing our original unit was doing. Turns out the plunger has pushed above the screws again... something it shouldn't be doing. So now they are saying it can be repaired and we are waiting on parts...again. we are going 4 months into a brand new appliance and have only used it for a total of 2 weeks. I'm feeling pretty confident this will not be our last repair based on past experience. I hope I am wrong.
